We're playing back Classic Rock "Love" Songs A thru Z on Valentine's Day.

One of the most used words in classic rock song titles is “love.” Sometimes “Love Stinks.” Other times you have to “Love The One You’re With.” All the time, “I Love Rock and Roll.” From “Addicted to Love” to “Your Love is Driving Me Crazy,” tune in to WCSX on Valentine’s Day for Classic Rock “Love” songs A thru Z. The list kicks off at 10 am, right after Big Jim’s House.

Valentine’s Day is a day celebrating love and romance, but its roots (like pretty much all of history) are pretty dark.  History.com discusses the different Valentines that were martyred and explores the history in general of the holiday. If you check it out, be prepared to go down a rabbit hole. Whatever the origin of Valentine’s Day, WCSX is celebrating by playing Classic Rock “Love” songs A thru Z.

Can I Get a Taste of What to Expect?

Of course! We’ve compiled a small sampler of what you’ll hear on Valentine’s Day.  We chose some obvious picks and some curveballs on the sampler as well.  WCSX is extending the “Love” Song A thru Z this year.  Screamin’ Scott has been kind enough to join me (Donielle Flynn) and let the A thru Z run through his show. We will have time to play MORE “Love” songs than ever before.  Thanks, Screamin’! Our list of songs has “love,” “lover,” or “lovin'” in the title.  Happy Valentine’s Day!

Classic Rock “Love” Songs

  • "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love" - VH

Your love is rotten to the core. So is South Park. Did you ever see this episode featuring “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love?”

  • "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" - Night Ranger

Cuz I don’t want to know!

  • "Hello, I Love You" - The Doors

A line that only ever worked for Jim Morrison.  All hail the Lizard King!

  • "I Think I love You" - Partridge Family

What am so afraid of?  JK, I’m not playing this.  No offense, Partridge lovers.

  • "I'd Love To Change The World" - Ten Years After

    But I don’t know what to do…

  • "I'm In Love With My Car" - Queen

Queen’s only number one written by drummer, Roger Taylor! Each member of Queen wrote at least one number one song.

  • "Love Bites" - Def Leppard

Love begs and pleads too.  Joe Elliot asking some provocative questions in this one.

  • "Love Is The Drug" - Roxy Music

Bryan Ferry rocks an eye patch in the video… but not to look cool.  There was no video made for “Love Is the Drug.”  They used a live performance.  The day before the show, Bryan Ferry injured his eye when he accidentally walked into a door!  You can see the actual dressing under the eye patch.

  • "Radar Love" - Golden Earring

Back in my day, there was no texting, kids!  We used our telepathic powers and called it “Radar Love.”

  • "Stone In Love" - Journey

I love this song.  It’s one of Journey’s rather underrated songs, imho.

  • "You Give Love a Bad Name" - Bon Jovi

EVERYONE sings along to this one.  It’s like a Jedi mind trick pulled by Bon Jovi.  So good.
