Album For The Weekend: Great White’s ‘Full Circle’
As we all head into the long holiday weekend, a proper soundtrack is in order, and you should really do yourself a favor and check out Great White’s new album Full Circle, the band’s first LP in five years.
The meaning behind the album title is two-fold:
1. It’s certainly a return to form sonically for Great White.
and
2. It marks the return of iconic producer Michael Wagener, who first worked with the band on their first EP and LP, 1983’s Out of the Night and 1984’s Great White.
Guitarist Mark Kendall told us that he crossed paths with Wagener on the 2015 Monsters of Rock Cruise, and as the two were catching up, one thing lead to another and the idea of working together again came up. While Kendall said 2016 tour commitments forced a hold on recording, once their schedules cleared, Great White ended up renting a house near Wagener’s studio in Mount Juliet, Tenn. just outside of Nashville and got to work.
The result? Nine killer tracks led by “Big Time,” a monster track with a booming chorus that according to Kendall wasn’t originally supposed to be the lead single. (After all, “Big Time” is listed as track eight on the album.) However, after the track got rave reviews from those closest to the band who had the chance to preview Full Circle before its release, the change was made to make “Big Time” the lead single.
Just take a listen to the track below for yourself! (BTW: Good luck with trying to get the chorus out of your head. We still can’t!)
Full Circle is out now at multiple retailers and digital platforms. For the latest on Great White, including upcoming tour dates, head over to OfficialGreatWhite.com.
