New Woodstock Doc Features Unseen Footage of Neil Young, Janis Joplin
Woodstock and its 50th anniversary this year is bringing two different concert experiences and a new documentary.
Per Deadline, A Star is Born producer Bill Gerber is working on a new Woodstock documentary that will act as a “companion piece” to the original Woodstock, which was released in 1970. Gerber’s documentary will feature previously unseen footage of Neil Young and Janis Joplin, as well as an on-screen reunion a Young with David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash.
So far, there’s no word yet as to when this documentary will be released. Don’t be surprised if the release happens around the time of the two competing concerts.
Woodstock 50, which will be organized by Woodstock co-founder Michael Lang, will be taking place August 16-18 in Watkins Glen, N.Y. The site of the original Woodstock which is now the home of the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts will host three separate concerts from August 16-18 with Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band performing on the 16th and Santana performing on the 17th. The third concert act will be announced at a later date.
