“I’m sure many of you have heard. I’ve recently been the victim of a media scandal, and there’s been some very very serious allegations made against me,” James starts out. He goes on to say,”these accusations are not true. I am, of course, talking about the people saying that I don’t drive the car during Carpool Karaoke.”
James goes on to explain that he drives that car for most of the segments, but for safety reasons, he has to sometimes use a tow. “I know this looks bad. But I just want to say right now that I always drive the car unless we’re doing something that we think might not be safe, like a dance routine or a costume change … or if I’m drunk. In the case of Justin Bieber, it was a safety issue where we thought it was best to tow the car. Frankly, I just kept getting lost in his eyes.”
He goes on to say, “I am nothing if not a man of integrity. I swear to you, 95% of the time, I really am endangering the lives of the world’s biggest pop stars.” He later adds, “I’m just shocked I’ve done something that upset people more than Cats.”
After James addressed the scandal, Justin Bieber responded sarcastically, wiring, “Wait… you weren’t driving the car? How could you James? I’m shocked.”
