‘Who’s The Boss?’ Sequel in the Works with Tony Danza, Alyssa Milano
Who’s the Boss? is the latest ’80s sitcom to be getting a comeback.
Per Deadline, a sequel to the ABC series is currently being developed by Sony Pictures Television, and it will feature Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano reprising the roles of Tony and Samantha Micelli.
So far, Judith Light and Danny Pintauro, who played Angela and Johnathan Bower, are not currently attached to the sequel, but Deadline reports they “are supportive of the new series, and the hope is to find creative ways to work them and their characters into the show.” Sadly, Katherine Helmond, who played Angela’s mother Mona, passed away in February 2019.
The premise of the series finds Samantha as a single mother 30 years later living in the same home where the original Who’s the Boss? took place. Tony has since retired from housekeeping, but it is not clear is he is living in the house, too. Deadline reports, “The new comedy will explore generational differences, as well as opposing world views and parenting styles within the dynamic of a modern family in 2020.”
Airing and network details are not currently known, but Deadline adds, “The project will eventually be shopped to buyers with the opportunity to also license the 196 episodes of the original series.”
