Rob Halford on the Last Time He Spoke to K.K. Downing, His Parents Experiencing His Success
Rob Halford has been doing a lot of talking as of late to promote his new memoir, Confess. However, if fans are still holding out for The Metal God and former Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing to talk things out and make up, that’s likely not in the cards.
It’s been a little over nine years since Downing left Priest. In a recent appearance on Talkin’ Rock with Meltdown, Halford said of last speaking to Downing, “Oh, I can’t remember. It’s been a long, long time. I guess it’s about the same time that it was when I was away from Priest. You know, I think we’re certainly in communication with our music because, you know, we all listened to Priest practically every day. But it’s been a while. It’s been a few years.”
In happier news, as Halford drafted Confess and looked back on his career, he reflected on how grateful he was for his parents to experience his success.
“Incredible. Yeah, it’s a blessing. It’s a blessing,” said Halford. “You know, unconditional love from your mom and dad to help and urge you and see you through life and get you ready for the big world. That’s what they did for me. They saw many, many Priest shows. One time I flew my dad and my brother over to New York to see Priest when we played our very first Madison Square Garden show. So, you know, your parents love you and they can share in the success that you’re having, especially as a musician and watch your kids up on stage going crazy with the fans, the metal maniacs. Such a blessing.”
Confess is out now and available for purchase via HachetteBooks.com.
