Taylor Hawkins Honored with 100 Drummer Salute
Taylor Hawkins’ death is still heavily felt in the rock world. The first anniversary of his passing is tomorrow (March 25.) To honor the late drummer, Belgian rock band Black Box Revelation recruited 100 drummers to salute the legacy of Hawkins.
Embedded below is an epic performance of the Foo Fighters classic “My Hero.” Per the video’s description on YouTube, the performance occurred at the Sportpaleis Antwerp. It was the last venue the Foos performed at with Hawkins.
NME quoted Gino Kesteloot, a musician that participated in the performance, saying, “It’s the first time I played together with 100 other drummers. It sounded great, I even got goosebumps all over my body! Wonderful to honor our hero this way.”

Foo Fighters have yet to announce a new drummer. However, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band has a stacked itinerary this year of headlining festival dates.
On New Year’s Eve 2022, the Foos shared a statement addressing their future. They said, in part, ” … Without Taylor, we never would have become the band that we were – and without Taylor, we know that we’re going to be a different band going forward.”
They further noted, “We also know that you, the fans, meant as much to Taylor as he meant to you. And we know that when we see you again – and we will soon – he’ll be there in spirit with all of us every night.”
A list of their festival dates can be viewed below.
