Toto Has Big Plans For The 40th Anniversary Of Debut Album
Toto will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of its debut album next year with a new greatest hits album, and more.
The group will be releasing 40 Trips Around The Sun, which features three unreleased songs, on February 9, two days before it begins the European leg of a world tour in Helsinki, Finland. The group also plans a summer release for a box set of all of its albums plus more unreleased material, while guitarist Steve Lukather will be publishing a memoir, The Gospel According To Luke.
Lukather tells us that he’s looking forward to spreading the gospel of Toto throughout the year, including in North America during the summer:
“It’s gonna be a big year. The next couple years are gonna be, could be the hugest in the history of the band, ’cause these days…you play to your audience, and we have a big audience, much bigger than I thought, and it’s like, ‘Holy shit, our music has transcended 40 years! 40 Years?! We never would’ve guessed it.”
The new songs on 40 Trips… include “Alone” and “Struck By Lightning” as well as “Spanish Sea,” which features late members Jeff and Mike Porcaro.
