Vicky’s Homemade Ice Cream in Reford defied the odds. They’re a stand-alone, family-run ice cream shop in Redford. Vicky’s is not a corporation or conglomerate. They’re just a little shop with PHENOMENAL ICE CREAM. Fred runs the shop. Fred makes most all of the ice cream and tends the store. Each day, he brings his mother, Mary, with him and takes care of this sweet lady. You should go to Vicky’s because they have delicious ice cream. In addition to all Fred does for Vicky’s Homemade Ice Cream and his mom, Fred also gives back to his community. Crates for Veterans has been a project for about five years. He and his friend, Deni Hunter receive and search out community donations. They repurpose them into “Crates for Veterans.” The latest package includes gloves, a hat, a scarf, and a snack bar. Fred and Deni package these up and give them to The Michigan Veteran’s Foundation and The Piquette Square for Veterans for disbursement to needy veterans in our community. They recently became an official 501 C-3 charity. These are good people going above and beyond. WCSX headed to Vicky’s on Wednesday (October 12th) to celebrate their win in the WCSX Game of Cones! I hung out with some WCSX listeners that were nice enough to stop by and enjoy some ice cream while we were there. Michigan, I love our people.
