What a Labor Day Weekend! Soaring Eagles’ Arts Beats and Eats in Royal Oak (presented by Flag Star Bank) saw some great live music, food, and art while raising a ton of money for local charities.

Opening night (Friday, August 30th) WCSX presented Tesla and Cheap Trick. We gave away VIP seats to some lucky WCSX winners including Maryanne Hayes. Maryanne loves Cheap Trick and sent me a picture from her second row seat of Robin Zander!

Good People at Arts Beats and Eats

I hung out at The WCSX booth on Saturday and Monday and spoke with some really great WCSX listeners including Carl (picture below). Carl has been in a rock band for decades. I first met him back in the 90’s at The I-Rock nightclub. Carl still remembers it! He so kind and has wonderful energy.

I also ran into Blake, the airplane man. Every year, as long as any of us can remember, Blake has stopped by to see every radio personality he can find and he asks them to fold paper airplanes and write messages out for him. Even though he tells us all what to write (he is very specific) we all oblige because it clearly means something to Blake and we are happy to be a part of his tradition (picture below) at Arts Beats and Eats in Royal Oak every year.

INK DET was next door and I have to say, they had some really great gear. I bought a Lions Believe hoodie. It looks cool and it’s very soft. That’s a winning combo in my book.

I also saw some cool art from Mick Whitcomb. His specialty is making custom lighting and furniture from “architectural and industrial salvage.” The picture doesn’t really do Mick’s work justice. It was very cool and unique. You can check out more of his stuff HERE.
