Downtown Clarkston hosts the 26th annual Taste of Clarkston on Sunday September 29th: great timing to head to Clarkston for City of the Week!
Clarkston was established in 1832 and has taken great care of their history. The village was named after Jeremiah Clark one of the original settlers. We love heading to Clarkston every year for the Taste of Clarkston. While the community is home to many events through out the year, The Taste of Clarkston is one of our favorites. We sent Joel Morgan, our City of the Week captain, out to Clarkston to meet up with some of our Clarkston friends as they ramp up for this amazing (and delicious) event.
Joel’s Notes
I met with Kendal Petzold and Kate Masters of The Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce, and they took me on a VIP Tour of historic downtown Clarkston. I was introduced me to Gina Garavaglia of Bowman Chevrolet and she showed me how to charge an electric Chevy Equinox at the EV charging station inside of Depot Park.
Our next stop was Essence On Main (picture above) Other stops included 2 South Brunch House, The Main Street Mi Coworking office space, The Fed fine dining restaurant that is in a former bank- it even still has the bank vault you can dine inside off!
Our final stop was Bay Court Park where Kendal and I met Lisa Christensen, The Deputy Director of Parks, Recreation & Seniors for Independence Township. I got a tour of the AWESOME Bay Court Playground that was recently upgraded!
Being in Clarkston somehow feels like you are farther away, or even a bit back in the past! It’s a historic little village that is still very friendly community! I urge you to visit Clarkston whenever you can! -Joel
