Time to air your GRIEVANCES! Seinfeld made Festivus popular in an episode that aired on December 18, 1997, called “The Strike.” In the episode all the character learn of all the nuances of “Festivus” from George and George’s father Frank Costanza. Some people now celebrate this as a holiday which, in the episode takes place on December 23rd. Will you celebrate “Festivus”? The date is not quite as important as the traditions:

  • The Raising of the Aluminum Pole!

As an example against the commercialism of Christmas, a non-adorned pole is raised instead of the traditional Christmas Tree.

  • Airing of Grievances!

Before dinner you may air your grievances with whomever you feel since the last Festivus.

  • Traditional Festivus Dinner!

In the episode, the Costanzas serve meatloaf over lettuce with no alcohol.

  • Feats of Strength!

If you participate, you must pin the head of the household to conclude the festivities.
