Congratulations to St. Clair Shores: City of the Week with WCSX! According to the St. Clair Shores’ official website, St. Clair Shores was originally part of Erin Township from 1843 to 1911.
St. Clair Shores was incorporated as a village in 1925 and was not established as a city until 1951.
Around the time of the First World War, St. Clair Shores became a stomping ground for gamblers, rum runners, and tourists because of Prohibition. This wild and exciting life helped bring attention to St. Clair Shores, both good and bad.
After the Second World War, St. Clair Shores became one of the fastest-growing suburbs in Detroit.
The current population as of the 202o census is 58,874.
