When huge storms hit, the one thing you can never be sure about is when the power will come back on. We’ve all been there, right? Whether it’s a hurricane, snowstorm, tornado, or just severe thunderstorm, if Mother Nature blows the power is likely going to go out around town. So what do you do for those days after the storm has passed and you still don’t have power? Well, we’ve got a few items to help out with that.
Severe storms can come quickly, and cause a lot of devastation before making, and exit. And what does it leave you with? Possibly without access to power, water, or ways to keep food cold or heat it up.

I think one thing we learned last year after Hurricane Ian came through and destroyed our paradise, is that being prepared is extremely important. How To Be Prepared For A Major Storm
Outside of things to have on hand, one of the most important things is having a plan. Here are a few things to consider:
- If you don’t have friends or family you can stay with, make sure you know the location of the nearest shelter and know how to get there from your home.
- If you own a pet, make sure the shelters are pet-friendly or there’s a pet-friendly hotel that will welcome you and your four-legged family members.
- Filling up your car’s gas tank is important too, especially in the case of evacuation. Not even necessarily leaving the area but moving to another zone away from danger.
- Having the necessary supplies will be a game changer. It might be things you think more of having while camping and not using within your home, but when there’s no electricity, it could make all the difference.
