SMART Drops Fares This Week; Reduces Stops Next Week
This week, SMART bus service announced it was temporarily eliminating fares and having riders use the rear doors of the bus.
Deputy General Manager Robert Cramer told MLive, “If we basically turn off the fare boxes and run a fare-free service, we’re going to require everyone who’s able to board and exit the bus through the back doors.”
Next week, SMART will reduce the frequency of buses along the routes. Many of the new schedules will be based on current Saturday schedules. Go to smartbus.org to get specific details on all routes.
