Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks Appearing on Dolly Parton’s Rock Album
Dolly Parton shared some more details on her upcoming rock album, including a list of some very high-profile names set to appear on the LP.
Parton was a guest on The View yesterday (January 17) and was asked about the album, which will include a cover of the Rolling Stones’ “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.” When asked if Mick Jagger might provide vocals on the recording, Parton said, “I’m doin’ my best to try to get him on, but I did his song anyway. I think Pink and Brandi Carlile are gonna be singing on that particular song with me.”
She added, “We’ve got great artists like Paul McCartney singing with me. Stevie Nicks, we just finished our song last night. We got John Fogerty, Steve Perry and Steven Tyler. We got a lot of iconic singers that are going to be on with us. So I’m looking forward to it.”
Parton continued, “I’m even going to have Cher on. I’ve been getting a song for her. We’ve been trying to get the right thing together but that’s going to be a big thrill.”
In December, Parton shared in an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon the album would be titled Rock Star, and it’s set for release in Fall 2023.
“We’re going to have a lot of great, iconic songs like [Prince’s] ‘Purple Rain’ [the Rolling Stones’] ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,’ [Led Zeppelin’s] ‘Stairway to Heaven,’ [Lynyrd Skynyrd’s] ‘Free Bird’ But we’re going to have a few guest artists, ” said Parton.
Ultimate Classic Rock reported she previously said Steve Perry and Steven Tyler will be appearing on the LP. The icon said that when it comes to recruiting artists for her rock album, she opts to react out to the artist herself instead of having publicists make those connections.
“I send a message myself because I figure they don’t need to get that through somebody else. … I’m excited to do it, I really am. I think it’s gonna be a good album,” said Parton.
