Alice Cooper Show Memory: Covered In Blood
Ken Settle, Detroit Photographer, has had some amazing and unbelievable experiences while shooting concert footage. The moments Ken catches of so many iconic performers are, quite frankly, jaw-dropping. In celebration of Alice Cooper‘s birthday today, February 4th, I thought I’d share my favorite Ken Settle Alice Cooper show memory.
Ken Settle: The Alice Cooper Show He’ll Never Forget
“Expect the unexpected” would have to be the operative motto for any Alice Cooper Show! Alice’s management has always let me photograph Alice’s shows in their entirety from beginning to end. No three-song limit, which has been the norm for many years now.
Alice’s Halloween show at Joe Louis Arena in 1987 was insane and insanely good. Alice had countless helium-filled balloons bouncing overhead in the stage area. He was piercing the balloons with his sword. Confetti fell all over the stage, the photo pit, as well as the first several rows of the audience. What no one knew though, was that a few of those balloons contained gallons of fake blood!
There I was photographing Alice when he popped a blood balloon. The next thing I knew, me, and my cameras, as well as the first few rows in the audience, are covered in gallons of sticky faux blood. I mean, I got NAILED! Covered from head to toe in the stuff! Since I had no other clothes to change into, I got a lot of strange looks driving home after the show.
