Congratulations to Farmington! You are the WCSX City of The Week! I met up with Mayor Sara Bowman for a preview of Farmington Founders Fest! First, we met at Masa and grabbed a couple of mango margaritas in our Syndicate cups. Thanks for the superb service, Anonymous Rob and Ashley! (inside joke, apologies 🙂
Next, we headed over to Fido Fest. They were filling the pool for the doggie long jump. Fido Fest is hugely popular. CLICK HERE for a rundown of this weekend’s events. I LOVE the giant dog pool where people bring their dogs to distance jump. It’s amazing to watch!
Farmington Founders Fest has been going on for 59 years, celebrating Farmington’s birthday (199 years ago). Around 80,000 people make their way to Farmington over the course of the Farmington Founders Festival. The Syndicate is a designated area where people can walk about downtown Farmington with adult beverages, which is pretty sweet. You can also enjoy a beer tent for the Farmington Founders Fest celebration with live music and a ton of food options.
Food and Entertainment
Sweet and Sticky BBQ smelled SO GOOD! Bently and Anastaja were cooking up some amazing pork butts. I verified that their pulled pork sandwiches include coleslaw and a seven-cheese macaroni and cheese. You’re welcome.
Mayor Bowman and I also stopped by and said hellos to the ladies of Lekker Choco Treats. Nakija and Marlena have some delicious desserts planned out. Make sure to stop by and check it for yourself!
What can the kids do? Plenty! John and Dave from Art Club Hub are making a mermaid sand sculpture! It’s part of the Under The Sea theme in the kids’ zone. Founders Fest also has kids’ activities including a gaming truck! I love being out in Farmington for the Founders Festival!
