The WCSX Classic Rock Swap 2024 was an amazing event. Things were hectic and the day moved fast, but in good ways. Thanks for everyone who came out to see us and celebrate all things rock and roll memorabilia at Livonia’s Laurel Park Place.
Doni’s Blog from the WCSX Classic Rock Swap 2024
It had been a few years since we had a Classic Rock Swap. I love this event and I missed it. Before I go any further, I would like to thank Ben Perez, Marketing Director of WCSX and his team for all their hard work. This event has a lot of moving parts. It’s a lot of work to put together. Ben did a fabulous job.
My work on this was to show up. I did. LOL Seriously, Screamin’s Scott and I broadcast live from the event and had so much fun together. We spoke with so many WCSX listeners. Some folks we hadn’t seen in a while, other folks we had spoken with on the phones but never met. Others stopped by to let us know they listen even if they don’t call. Thank you all.
The Lost Love Note in Doni’s CD Collection
Screamin’ Scott and I realized that WE are classic rock as we looked at the stuff we brought to the show. The funniest thing I brought, is something I had no idea I had. A person was looking through my CDs and a found a note from 1996! It was a note from Max, the drummer of a band called “The Hunger.”
Max and Dani did not end up going together, but apparently I left his kind offer unanswered all these years… it may be due to the spelling error. Sorry, Max… Dani loves you!
Screamin’ Scott and I first worked together in the ’90s at 102.7 Z-Rock here in Detroit. Z-Rock is long gone, but man do we have some great memories. The note was written on the back of a liner sheet from Z-Rock. One of the liners was talking about “Scott Randall’s Most Music Mornings of Detroit’s Z-Rock.” It was such a blast down memory lane.
Super Service: Facetime / Facebook Live
Another one of my favorite moments came courtesy of Lou from Canton and his wife, Karen. They were out of town, so Lou asked his three daughters, Hailey, Maddie, and Lily to come out to the WCSX Classic Rock Swap 2024 and the Facetime him so he could look at the stuff for sale and have the girls buy it on his behalf. This… is dedication, friends, You can check out the whole video here.
In between the broadcast, selling stuff, and talking with lots of our WCSX friends, I did not get as many pictures of the over-all event as I would have liked, but please enjoy my photos below. I hope you can join us at the next WCSX Classic Rock Swap. It really is a great thing to be a part of.
