Cookie Monster Caught Speeding
Who knew that the Cookie Monster was a speed freak? Cops in Dortmund, Germany released a traffic cam shot of the Muppet doing 60 in a 50-mile-per-hour zone, and there's no way he can deny it. You can clearly see it's him behind the wheel of an Audi. C is for Cookie…and Clutch - Cookie Monster Has A Nice Car It's not clear who the person in the Cookie Monster costume is, but it happened on September 20th. Police think they staged it and got caught on purpose, because they knew the photo would be funny. Cops aren't laughing though. They put out a statement that said driving with a mask on is dangerous. And it wouldn't be so funny if you crashed and KILLED someone. (Good to remember with Halloween coming up.) But the person could face multiple fines for speeding and driving with a mask on. The two fines combined would only be around $100 - or about six boxes of Girl Scout cookies (right Screamin?) Here are five things you may not know about the Cookie Monster: His Real Name Isn't "Cookie Monster": Shocker, right? Our favorite blue muncher was originally named Sid. Yep, Sid! "Cookie Monster" only came into play after his obsession with cookies took over his personality. He Wasn't Always Obsessed with Cookies: Before his cookie days, the first version of Cookie Monster appeared in a 1966 snack commercial, where he was a monster named "Arnold" with a passion for a much healthier snack — crackers. He also starred in a commercial where he devoured a computer! Cookies just fit better later on. He's Surprisingly Cultured: Cookie Monster may have a one-track mind, but he’s no slouch in the arts! He’s performed renditions of classics like "C is for Cookie" and even tried his hand at Shakespeare, once reciting "To eat or not to eat, that is the question." He Eats More Than Just Cookies: Cookie Monster has occasionally shown interest in other foods like fruits, vegetables, and even sushi. He’s all about balance—well, sort of! He Once Tried to Quit Cookies: In an attempt to encourage healthier eating habits, Cookie Monster briefly cut down on cookies and started promoting more nutritious foods in 2005. But no worries—he eventually found that cookies are sometimes food, and all was right in the world again. Now you know a bit more about everyone's favorite cookie-crunching (and Audio driving) fiend. BTW - don't wear a costume with a mask when you're driving, dude.
