Megan's bucket list just got a little shorter today after meeting Grimace.

For almost two decades now, the residents in downtown Wayne have been burning rubber and revving those hand-built carburetors on Michigan Avenue every July for their 18th annual Cruisin’ US12 event. The community of over 10,000 people makes it feel as if 25,000 show up for this city-wide event when the wheels start spinning and the finest Motor City muscle touches the asphalt.

This one-day event showcases many local businesses in the Downtown Wayne area. It offers activities for all ages to come out and embrace the summertime fun found while going up and down Cruisin’ US12. Some of these activities include:

-Car shows morning prayer, and you can eat pancakes and breakfast.

-Arts & Craft show, Pinewood Derby contests

-Kids block party full of bounce houses and live music.

Of course, many people come out for Cruisin’ US12 just to see those magnificent muscle cars and hear all those engines roar. “The much-anticipated 18th annual Cruisin’ US12 car cruise is set to take over Downtown Wayne on Saturday, July 13th, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. This cherished event will once again see Michigan Avenue and downtown Wayne packed with an impressive array of classic and custom cars, drawing car enthusiasts and families alike for a day of fun and community spirit.“-Lisa Kubany

In the middle of all this high action and fun was 94.7 WCSX and DJ Megan Murphy hanging out at the McDonalds in Downtown Wayne. While there was a line inside the McDonald’s for their world-famous hotcakes, WCSX had a line themselves of hungry classic rockers. These devoted listeners were eager to try their hand at winning plenty of swag courtesy of Dr. Pepper and the opportunity to score a pair of tickets to see Bret Michaels Parti-Gras concert.

Hundreds visited Mcdonald’s and WCSX to make their Cruisin’ US12 a memorable experience. Despite the hot temps, even a special appearance by the McDonald’s legend Grimace couldn’t stop the throng of classic rock enthusiasts, and McDonald’s went away for a long time.

A special thanks to Mayor of Wayne John Rhaesa and Community Director Lisa Kubany for their kindness and for making 94.7 WCSX feel like we’ve been lifelong residents of Wayne. Thanks to the fine staff of McDonald’s in downtown Wayne and Dr. Pepper, who made sure the promo team stayed hydrated, as well as cruisers Bill, Gary, and trucker Tony for reminding WCSX that cruising in a classic car to classic rock isn’t just a hobby; it’s a way of life.
