Utica – Hitting It Out Of The Park
Utica is one of my favorite communities to visit. Everyone of our communities has something special to offer, but my favorites are the ones with charming downtowns and many nods…

Utica, Michigan has small town charm and offers so much. A great historical downtown, Utica also is home to the modern The USPBL Jimmy John’s Field and so much more.
Joel MorganUtica is one of my favorite communities to visit. Everyone of our communities has something special to offer, but my favorites are the ones with charming downtowns and many nods to their history. That is Utica.
What makes Utica more amazing, is that they honor their history despite having had the downtown mostly burn to the ground TWICE. in 1904 and 1905 Utica had devastating fires. Despite this, Utica or maybe because of this, Utica takes great care of their history.
Another of my favorite places to visit is Jimmy John's Field. It's such a wonderful baseball experience designed to be the most family friendly experience imaginable, Jimmy John's is also a much more affordable option for taking the family out for a night enjoying America's favorite past time.

Jimmy John's Field in Utica. WCSX has been a huge fan of the field for years now. We love going out for the ballgames!
WCSX has visited this amazing community many times. Big Jim's House first visited the Shamrock Pub during Restaurant Road Trips. Listener told us their favorite restaurants and Jim and Ryan taste-tested. Shamrock's burgers are a must-have!
Joel's Notes
Utica- Home of The Utes!!? (Haha!) WCSX City of the Week returned to Utica after a too long absence! It was great to see long time friends of the station, and make new friends too! We visited of three of our favorite locations in historic downtown Utica- USA Tire, Shamrock Pub, and a new location, Sarge & Red's Toys and Collectibles. (Dude! They have an awesome store!)
Big Jim O'Brien decided to join the patio party at The Shamrock and he brought a couple of his new Big Jim's House State of Seger Bob Seger tribute t-shirts and a few "Boot Check" stickers, too!

Cindy and Wendy totally had permission from their boss to have a long lunch and hang out with Big Jim at The Shamrock! Big Jim hooked them up with a couple of the new State of Seger t-shirts!

The staff of The Shamrock—manager Art, Chef Eric, April, and Tim—are outstanding! They serve EXCELLENT food, fast and friendly—a fine Irish Pub since 1935!

WCSX fans Denise and Jon of Utica take lunch at The Shamrock!

It was great to see our long-time friends Meghan and Debbie at ABC Tire in Historic Downtown Utica! Meghan's father started the business in 1978, and they have been keeping Utica rolling ever since! The lobby of USA Tire is like a museum of pristine vintage gas pumps, pedal cars, and automotive memorabilia! Look, but don't touch, and for goodness sake, don't take photos or videos! Hah! Thank You, USA Tire!

Joel had a blast at Sarge & Red's Toys and Collectibles! "Sarge" (on the right) and "Red" (on the left) are a married couple who are living their dream of owning a cool toy and collectible store! Sarge & Red are shown here adding a "collectible" WCSX sticker to their impressive collection! They stock new and vintage action figures, toys, Funko Pop stuff, and so much more!

Big Jim O'Brien greets Karen and Robert on the Shamrock patio. It was Robert's first day on the job as a server, and Big Jim was his first customer! Karen trained Robert very well because the service was great!

The Shamrock Pub's outdoor patio is a beautiful location in historic downtown Utica. Here, you can have a great meal, drink, and have a great time!
