Crystal Pepsi and a 90’s Revival

Crystal Pepsi and a 90’s revival are here! Does Crystal Pepsi bring back sweet memories for you? Crystal Pepsi still remains in the memories of many. Recently, Pepsi started a contest to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the drink. On Twitter, you post pictures of yourself from the 90s with the hashtag #ShowUsYour90s and Pepsi will pick their 300 favorites. The 300 they pick will be sent six 20-ounce bottles of Clear Pepsi.

The ’80s boldly came back numerous times and now the ’90s are doing the same. Here are some ’90s trends and things coming back or on their way back.

  • Tamagochi

I think I may have been one of the few that did not get myself a Tamagochi. Perhaps it was the responsibility of feeding and caring for a virtual being at such a young age. Whatever the case, many others bought these till stores couldn’t keep them on the shelves. We were very bored before cell phones and these little creatures kept us all very occupied. In July of 2020, Tamagochi released new versions of the portable creatures.

  • Ecto Cooler

Technically this started in 1989, with the release of Ghostbusters 2, but was kept in rotation till 2001. In 2001 the name was changed to Shoutin’ Orange Tangergreen. The “Ecto Cooler” was relaunched for a brief period in 2016 and again in 2021 with the release of the NEW Ghostbusters movie, Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

  • The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

The inside-out jacket, Uncle Phil, Will Smith, The Carlton Shuffle, and so many great things came from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The show ran for six seasons, from 1990 to 1996. And now there is a reboot on the horizon. Fans of the original show may be in for a bit of a shock however because the new show has taken a more serious tone. The show will air on the Peacock streaming sometime in February of 2022.

  • Beavis and Butthead

If Fresh Prince did not sculpt your childhood, then perhaps Beavis and Butthead did. From the iconic frog baseball to coffee induced tp madness, Beavis and Butthead delighted a nation for years. The show ran for seven seasons from 1993 to 1997. It was briefly revived in 2011 for the eighth season and then was cancelled. Mike Judge recently posted pictures of Beavis and Butthead as middle-aged men teasing the second revival of the dynamic duo. Comedy Central is scheduled to air two new seasons and maybe another movie? Either way, I am ready and prepping my Winger shirt.

  • Ren and Stimpy

You can see that I watched a LOT of tv in the ’90s. But don’t get too excited, far as I can tell, Ren and Stimpy are not set to be revived any time soon. While they did have a brief revival on Spike Tv, it was to most fans, horrible and quickly cancelled. And many talks have been in the works with Comedy Central, but with the controversy surrounding the original creator, the show may be on the shelf indefinitely.
