Backstage News

This Memorial Day Weekend will be an eventful one for wrestling fans the world over because of Double or Nothing, the first official pay-per-view event from All Elite Wrestling (AEW.)

AEW made headlines last week at the WarnerMedia Upfronts when it was announced it would be airing a weekly wrestling program on TNT later this year. TNT was the home of World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and their flagship program, “WCW Monday Nitro,” from 1995-2001, which saw the Ted Turner-owned wrestling promotion go head-to-head against the then-WWF and their flagship program, “Monday Night RAW,” a period of time better known as the Monday Night Wars.

While AEW has positioned themselves as an “alternative” to WWE and not competition, it’s hard not to think of AEW as competition, especially with TNT declaring they’re “back in the wrestling business.”

With all of this in mind, it does beg the following question: Will AEW actually provide competition for WWE? Let us know how you feel in the poll below!
