WTH Is Going On For Trick Or Treating?
To buy candy or not to buy candy… that is the question many of us are mulling over. As we count down to Halloween, what’s the game plan?
Some communities have straight up said, “No,” to trick or treating. In our home, we’ve been wondering what to do so I did some homework. Believe it or not, the CDC has guidelines for celebrating holidays during Covid. Here are the quick hits:
LOW RISK ACTIVITIES:
*Carving pumpkins with family
*Carving pumpkins with neighbors/friends outdoors at a safe distance
*Decorating your house
*Virtual costume contests
*Lame scavenger hunt ideas with social distancing
MODERATE RISK ACTIVITIES:
*One way trick or treating: leave the candy in baggies at a safe distance from your home (washing hands before and after making candy baggies)
*Small group, outdoor costume parade with 6 foot social distancing.
*Costume parties held outdoors with social distancing and masks (Costume masks do not replace face masks)
*Open air, one way haunted forests with social distancing… screaming can send the virus further, so yeah.
*Outdoor Halloween movie night with friends or neighbors… 6 foot distancing and again, screaming is not advised.
*Pumpkin patches with hand sanitizer, masks an social distancing.
HIGHER RISK:
*Traditional trick or treating
*Trunk or treating
*Crowed indoor costume parties
*Indoor haunted houses with screaming
*using drugs or alcohol which can cloud judgement.
These are not MY opinions, just what I skimmed off of the CDC website. I fully feel this is lame, but we do have a pandemic going on and the Fall could see spikes. Does this BLOW? Yes. Will I most likely be making treat bags to leave on my stupid sidewalk this year? Yes.
Do you plan to give out candy on Halloween this year?
