Gene Simmons offered up a surprising admission in a new interview: He doesn’t have any friends.

He told Goldmine magazine, “Even today as I sit here, other than Paul [Stanley], and we only get together when we do stuff for the band… How do I say this without sounding inhuman? I don’t have friends.”

The Demon added, “Yeah, if friends means, ‘Gee, I don’t know what I’m going to do this afternoon. Hey, you want to come over and hang out?’ I’m more interested in what I want to do, and I don’t want to pretend that I’m interested in what you want to do because I am not.”

Hmmm…perhaps that last bit about not wanting to pretend to be interested in what someone else wants to do is why Simmons doesn’t have any friends. Either way, he seems rather self-aware and fine with it all.

In other KISS news: The band continues on with their “End of the Road” farewell tour tomorrow night (September 21) in West Palm Beach, Fla. After that, the band headlines the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Ky. on September 24 before traveling to Sacramento, Calif. on Octover 7 to headline the Aftershock festival.
