Aluminum Foil Solving One Of Life’s Unsolved Mysteries
Aluminum Foil Secret is reveled
We have all used aluminum foil at one time or another. It has many different uses in the kitchen and beyond. My first memory was at my elementary school lunchtime. My bagged lunch consisted of a pop wrapped in Aluminum Foil to keep it cold until lunch. The best was my treat of a Hostess King Dong wrapped in Aluminum Foil.

Who Invented Aluminum Foil?
Robert Victor Neher is often credited with inventing aluminum foil. His actual contribution was designing machines to create it efficiently. Heinrich Alfred Gautschi was producing a version of aluminum foil before Neher, though his contribution is often overlooked. In 1911, Robert Victor Neher took out another patent in Great Britain and began to market the product for the packaging of food products.
Remember The Swanson TV Dinners?
The original TV dinner was created and marketed in 1954 by two brothers, Gilbert C. and W. Clarke Swanson, who aptly named the meal “Swanson” Swanson’sers.” It included packaged turkey, cornbread stuffing, peas, and sweet potatoes. That was the favorite of kids like me. I was waiting for Mom and Dad to go out and for me to get my TV dinner.
Now One Of Life’s Unanswered Questions
Aluminum Foil? Shiny side up or dull side down when cooking. For years, this puzzled me, and cooking on the grill in the backyard. To my recollection, the dull side stayed inside to hold the food in place while the shiny aluminum side lay on the grill.
The only reason one side is shiny is because of the contact with the rollers. It has nothing to do with which side you should be against the food you buy. Now, the honest answer is it doesn’t. Which side of the foil goes against the food because the method used to cook most food doesn’t light. Instead, we use convection, not radiation, when cooking food in the oven. After all these years, it doesn’t matter what side you use.
Non-Stick Aluminum Foil
Reynolds has come up with a non-stick aluminum foil. Reynolds Wrap Non-Stick Aluminum Foil features a special food-safe nonstick coating to help foods slide right off. Great for lining pans, covering dishes, making packets for the grill, and wrapping foods for storage and transport.
