One-Word Movie Review: ‘Twisters’
Twisters is the latest movie to be subject to a One-Word Movie Review! What word would you use to describe the new stand-alone sequel to 1996’s Twister?
When the One-Word Movie Review was introduced, it wasn’t well received and might not have been understood. However, after rolling out the 2nd One-Word Movie Review: ‘Horizons: An American Saga – Chapter 1‘ there was a better understanding of what the reviews are meant to be. Now, the internet has asked for more and we’re happy to oblige!
One-Word Movie Review For ‘Twisters’ Starring Glen Powell
Critics can be too wordy and like to impress readers with their verbose lexicon–meaning they have a lot of words in their vocabulary and they can be unnecessarily wordy. Most of the time, we’re just reading the movie review to see whether or not we should watch it or if it will end up being a waste of our time. I believe that’s why society now relies so strongly on Rotten Tomatoes scores. We don’t want to read a novel from a critic saying it didn’t meet their high standards while describing it in words we don’t recognize nor understand (and certainly would struggle to pronounce). A simple percentage will do. At least until the One-Word Movie Review came along.
Twisters currently has a score of 75% on Rotten Tomatoes which isn’t bad! Fans seem to have liked the movie more than the critics, giving it a score of 91% comparatively. The Rotten Tomatoes Critics Consensus says, “Summoning a storm of spectacle and carried along by the gale force winds of Glen Powell’s charisma, Twisters‘ forecast is splendid with a high chance of thrills.” See, this review is only one sentence (rather brief for a movie review) and it contains at least 4 puns by my count. Haven’t we had enough of this?
The stand-alone sequel to 1996’s Twister stars Glen Powell who has had an incredible run the last couple years. He’s become one of Hollywood’s biggest stars and leading men thanks to movies like Top Gun: Maverick, Hit Man, and Anyone But You. Turns out having a bunch of rumors come out that you’re dating Sydney Sweeney can do wonders for your career–even if the rumors aren’t true. Additionally, Kiernan Shipka, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Anthony Ramos star in the blockbuster directed by Lee Isaac Chung.
