Taco Bell Brining Back Fan Foods From The Old Menu
Taco Bell October 31st, the ’60s Tostada, ’70s Green Sauce Burrito, ’80s Meximelt, and ’90s Gordita Supreme will hit menus again.
Taco Bell brings back iconic menu items from its first 50 years to unlock core Taco Bell memories and spark nostalgia for a new era of fans. The ‘60s Tostada, ‘70s Green Sauce Burrito, ‘80s Meximelt, and ‘90s Gordita Supreme will hit menus, and starting November 21, the ‘00s Caramel Apple Empanada will join the menu, each for a price that won’t harm your wallet.
Taco Bell Memories To Celebrate Decades In The Business
The only things that haven’t been brought back are smoking inside the restaurant and the real glass ashtrays from the late 1970s.
Fans have been creating and sharing Taco Bell memories for decades—everything from nerve-racking first dates to taco-centric graduation photoshoots and big birthday bashes—all starting with a trip to the nearest Taco Bell.
I remember friends, and I would order pintos and cheese and load it up with Taco Bell hot sauce packets way before the super hot food craze started. We were always loaded up with cinnamon crispers, thanks to my pal Andy, who, in High School, had a job for a short time at the Bell in Warren, Michigan.
Taco Bell Food They Are Bringing Back Include
‘1960s—Tostada:This is an original menu item, one of six released in 1962 at Taco Bell’s first walkup location in Southern California. It consists of a crispy corn tostada shell layered with savory refried beans, tangy red sauce, crispy lettuce, and shredded cheese.
Meximelt:One of our most requested comeback items, the Meximelt is made with freshly prepared pico de gallo, a blend of three kinds of cheese: mozzarella, cheddar, and Monterey jack melted with crave-able seasoned beef in a tortilla. Popular in the 1980s
Gordita Supreme: The ultimate 90s favorite, the Beef Gordita Supreme, returns. It’s a pillowy warm flatbread filled with savory seasoned beef, cool reduced-fat sour cream, crisp lettuce, and a blend of three kinds of cheese: mozzarella, cheddar, Monterey jack, and diced tomatoes.
Caramel Apple Empanada: The Apple Empanada has a golden-brown, crispy exterior filled with apple pieces and a flavorful, creamy caramel filling. It’s kind of like the Hot Apple Pie without the molten Lava, and it’s available starting November 21.
My 1st Memories of Taco Bell
Warren, Michigan, while I was a sophomore in High School, word spread fast about a new fast food place right near the School. The trick was to run as fast as you could for lunch to get to a packed Taco Bell, eat, and then run back before your next class. The timing had to be perfect, or you would be tardy.
As an Adult, the trick then became Friday & Saturday nights, getting out of the bar and waiting in a long line of cars to get just about everything on the menu. I still see that late at night as some Taco Bells were open 24 hours or till 4 am.
5 Must-Try Tacos In Metro-Detroit Any Day Of The Week
Tacos aren’t only for Tuesday! Here are 5 must-try tacos in Metro-Detroit for any day of the week!
Taco Tuesday is celebrated in many homes–and rightfully so. It can give you something to look forward to on Tuesday, and having something to look forward to can really help you get through the workday. However, tacos aren’t only for Tuesday! You can enjoy them any day you choose. Here are 5 must-try tacos in Metro-Detroit that you can enjoy whenever you please.
What Are The Best Tacos In Metro-Detroit?
When it comes to tacos, everyone has their favorite. It’s one of those things where you really can’t be wrong. You could even say your favorite taco place on Earth is Taco Bell and I couldn’t find any flaw in that. However, if you’re looking for something a bit more authentic maybe fast-food isn’t the way to go. There are many other great tacos in Metro-Detroit to choose from.
When looking for the best tacos in Metro-Detroit, I had to consider a number of factors. Variety was important. I don’t want a place where you can only get ground beef. No way! The best taco places will have beef, pork, chicken, and more! You know it’s going to be good when you see unique items on the menu like “Lengua” (that’s beef tongue). That’s always a sign that they’re doing things in authentic fashion.
Additionally, I considered factors like flavor, price, and availability. I don’t want to recommend a taco that’s out of the ordinary budget, that would be lame. A good taco is something cheap that packs a punch of flavor. I’m so sick of all these new-age restaurants trying to reinvent the taco. It doesn’t need it! So, I’m sure there are awesome taco joints out there with a crazy Elote Taco or Krazy Korean Taco but that’s not what I’m looking for or talking about here. I love the Hot Chicken Taco from Honcho in Clarkston, but it won’t make the list because it isn’t traditional enough. I want it plain and simple. Give me meat, onions, and cilantro. Then, some sauce on the side for me to pour on and I’m all set. I don’t ask for much!
Thankfully, there are many places to get tacos in Metro-Detroit that fit this description. Here are 5 of my favorites that I would recommend. Feel free to share your favorites in the comments! Whether you’re enjoying Taco Tuesday or looking for a Saturday lunch, these places should do the trick!
Taco Tuesday with Taco Stand in Allen Park. Some of the best tacos around...and Carne Asada Fries 🤤 pic.twitter.com/l72z9jGf0S
Now, there are Taco Stands popping up all over Metro-Detroit. There’s a reason for that. It’s because it’s so extraordinary! Their tacos could be the best in Metro-Detroit. I’ve always gone to the location on Allen Road in Allen Park. However, you can go to any and will experience the same greatness. They have locations across Metro-Detroit including: Birmingham, Garden City, Allen Park, Sterling Heights, Taylor, and Riverview. You can’t miss with the Chorizo. The Al Pastor is fantastic, too.
I know this is all about tacos, but they could also have the best Quesadilla I’ve ever had, too. Seriously, try it. You won’t regret it.
I recently had Tienda Mexicana for the first time, and I have been missing out. Thankfully, it’s close to my new place and I will be back. I’ve always said the best tacos can be found in Mexican markets and this is another example of that. We tried them all and they all were tasty. I’ll be going back for more very soon.
Here is my review of El Taco Veloz in Southwest Detroit (Part 1 of 2) *part 2 under this video pic.twitter.com/sGpSXnCfP0
If you’re looking for the best tacos in Metro-Detroit you’ll probably want to head to Southwest Detroit. There are so many to try and Mexicantown is right there. You can’t lose! Especially if you go with El Taco Veloz. You know a place is good when you see it growing and expanding, and we’ve seen that with El Taco Veloz. They do it right.
I couldn’t make this list and not include a taco from Mexicantown. It just felt wrong. Sure, I think Mexicantown is better for sit down meals and options that are more than tacos. I’d be more likely to order Fajitas or some kind of Chimichanga in Mexicantown but that doesn’t mean there aren’t excellent tacos around! My go-to would be Taqueria El Rey. Hits the spot every time.
I’ll finish the list with Taqueria Mi Pueblo. If you have a foodie friend who loves eating their way through Detroit, this is likely where they’ll send you for tacos. It’s as authentic as it is delicious. It doesn’t matter what you order, you’re going to like it. Pork? Yup. Chicken? Yes! Beef? Mhm. Try it all.
