I look forward to Soaring Eagle Arts Beats and Eats Presented by Flagstar Bank every year. You never know what you’ll see, hear or eat. That’s part of the fun. This year’s Arts Beats & Eats in Royal Oak had weather that can’t be beaten: mostly sunny and no rain plus highs in the ’80s and some really nice breezes.
The WCSX Weekend Rundown of Arts Beats & Eats in Royal Oak
Joan Jett and The Blackhearts kicked things off Friday night. WCSX’s Megan Murphy had the honor of introducing Joan. WCSX presented Joan’s show and we loaded up some lucky WCSX listeners with VIP seats for the show! We’re on site all weekend with the WCSX prize wheel and of course, Detroit’s Classic Rock playing from the booth all weekend.
I came out on Saturday and I met up with a friend I never see often enough, Michael. Michael and I have known each other since 2nd grade. One of the things I really love about Arts, Beats & Eats is that it’s a great event to use as a catalyst to meet up with friends and family that we’d like to spend more time with. Michael is a riot. Shortly after we met up, he had the bright idea of getting the palm tree drinks. The palm tree drinks were super fun and delicious, but then we had to carry the cup around. lol We had a great time checking out the rock and roll art of Arts Beats & Eats and caught Collective Soul that evening.
Rock And Roll Art
I always keep an eye out for the rock and roll art pieces at Arts Beats and Eats. I found some really cool pieces from SK8RO.ART, Dosecreative.com, Xavier Nuez Light Painting, and Deadwax Art. My favorite T-shirt shop at Arts Beats and Eats was Second Story for cool Michigan T-shirts. Second Story also has a shop in Ferndale.

On Monday I was back out and spent some serious time giving away a TON of prizes! We had the prize wheel up much of the day. We gave away tickets to the Boat Show, Novi Home Show, and the Renaissance Festival plus a ton of other prizes. I met some super fun people including Lisa. Lisa listens to WCSX every day while she works (pic below). The weather was beautiful, but also a bit on the warm side. Thankfully, we still had a good breeze to cool us off. Enjoy the pics!
