The Cruise on Woodward is always a good time, but it’s a better time when we’re blessed with the weather that we had for 2023. WCSX was cruising Woodward in Royal Oak at McDonald’s. Did you know that they have a car display in the front of the store? It’s amazing. McDonald’s works with Shifters Auto Club. Shifters handle getting a new car placed in the McDonald’s showroom once a month. I spoke with Shifters president, John Perras. John told me that Shifters Auto Club has been around since 1955. John has handled the parking for 28 years at the cruise on Woodward. They raise money for the Ronald McDonald House in Detroit every year. The Shifters Auto Club has helped raise around $100,000 during that time.
We saw some fantastic cars and met some interesting characters during our time at the Woodward Cruise. Here’s the Facebook Live video… it’s a little rough for a minute. You never know what’s going to happen when you’re live. I tried to feature WCSX listener, Truck Driver Chris’ dog, Peanut. Peanut was otherwise engaged.
Cruising Woodward in Royal Oak
Scroll down to see people and cars, cars, and more cars. My two favorites: the Camel Towing truck and the Toilet Plunger van. The toilet plunger van had me ROLLING! Sarah and Ed are the owners. Neither of them are plumbers, but they have a Facebook group called Toilet Plunger Hall of Fame. The page is “dedicated to the lowly Toilet Plunger who rarely if ever gets the credit it deserves.” Sarah and Ed told us that they wanted to give people a reason to smile and this is their contribution. I love these two. Totally vivacious, they picked a cause they are sticking to it… much like a toilet plunger. I even got a pick of Ed’s toilet plunger earring!
Thanks to everyone for stopping by and showing some love for WCSX especially Kenda (she’s given us ideas for the Gimme 3@3 before… thanks!) and John, Truck Driver Chris and his dog, Peanut, and Cathy and Rick Pierson. Cathy listens to the Power Lunch every day and requests songs! We love it!
Also, I tried a Dr. Pepper float and it was DELICIOUS! I highly recommend you try it out the next time you stop by the McDonald’s on Woodward in Royal Oak.
