Screamin’ Scott and I were rolling with my gnomies at Freddie’s Bar and Grill in Clinton Twp for Rock 4 Tots this weekend.  What a great time! I saw so many bands, so many toys, and so many generous people helping the community. The Rock 4 Tots Facebook page said that more than $26,000 was raised in addition to a boatload of toys. The charity event raised funds and toys to support Good Fellows and their “No Child Without a Christmas” pledge. More than 50 bands donated their time and talent. Additionally, there were sponsors and a ton of raffle baskets that made this thing go.

What I Learned While Rolling With My Gnomies

  1. I should have put ALL of my raffle tickets in the same cup instead of spreading them out. LOL, I won nothing, but I was happy to donate to this charity. Having said that, I should have put all my tickets in the same cup.
  2. It’s been a while since I saw an event like this. A community coming together and celebrating live music and good times while helping others. Rock 4 Tots was a great thing to have a small part in.  Screamin’ Scott doesn’t have a small part.  He has a huge part. I stopped in for a few hours on Saturday. Scott worked for months in advance securing raffle items and doing setup work. He took off from work the day before Rock 4 Tots, but he was still working.  Screamin’ host the ENTIRE event: 14 hours on Saturday and 13 hours on Sunday. Monday, he also took off from work, but he was still working.  He was returning gear to Guitar Center and helping out with other loose ends.
  3. Bringing a stuffed gnome to a bar can be dangerous.  When we first walked in with Woody, our stuffed Vernors’ gnome mascot, Woody got scooped up and placed with the other toys.  I love Woody, but I don’t know if a kid would love Woody like we do.

I snagged some fun pics while I was rolling with my gnomies.  Co-workers, friends of WCSX, and Woody getting a little tipsy.  Scroll down to check out the pictures!
