The holidays are upon us, you know what that means … let the gift shopping begin.
While it might seem like a good idea to stock up on gift cards to give to your loved ones over the holidays, there’s actually a reason why you should refrain from purchasing the popular item.
According to WSBTV, it’s awful risky these days to give gift cards as presents.
With online shopping booming, so many popular stores have downsized or closed down altogether.
And we’re not just talking about small, ma and pa shops — rather, we’re talking about major retailers like J.C. Penny, Sears, The Limited, and so many more.
Unfortunately, it can be just as risky to purchase a gift card to a restaurant. Several chains have closed their doors at various locations this past year, leaving the future uncertain.
Undoubtedly, giving a gift card to someone these days could mean that by the time they get around to using it, the business has closed its doors.
Rather than give gift cards to the person that has everything, why not give out cash instead? That way, the recipient can spend the money anywhere.
I mean, you just can’t go wrong with cash!
