Michigan Colleges with the Highest Female-to-Male Ratios
When deciding on a college, you obviously want to look at academics. Which schools will give you the best education in your areas of study? But, let’s face it. Some people like to have some other things factor into play, like where they are going to meet a significant other. If you’re looking to find the colleges with the highest female-to-male and male-to-female ratios, then this is for you. These are the top in the country, and two Michigan schools are in here.
Citytowninfo.com has complied a list of colleges across the U.S. and ranked them by the schools with the highest female-to-male and male-to-female ratios. CityTownInfo.com is an “industry leader in higher education marketing,” according to their official website.
Let’s start with colleges with a high male-to-female ratio. First, one of their lists features colleges and institutions with 2,000 to 10,000 students, so these are smaller schools. They note that, “technical colleges, armed forces military academies and STEM focused schools rank highest on the list.” No. 1 on the list is Citadel Military College of South Carolina, where the school is comprised 91% of men. They’re followed by No. 2 with Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California (86%); No. 3 with Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida (83%); the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York (83%); and the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts (82%). For medium to large colleges with students with 2,000 to 10,000 students, No. 1 is Citadel Military College of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina, which consists of 91% males. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, is No. 2, and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, is No. 3.
Now, let’s move onto colleges with a high female-to-male ratio. They note that “Schools in this list tend to be those that were originally colleges for women only or that have a large number of programs, such as allied health and nursing, that attract a disproportionate number of women. A notable number of colleges with high female-to-male ratios are affiliated with the Catholic faith.” For medium-sized colleges, No. 1 is Notre Dame of Maryland University in Boston, with 95% women. No. 2 is The College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, New York; and No. 3 is Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles. For large colleges with more than 10,000 students, No. 1 is Texas Woman’s University in Denton, with 89% women. No. 2 is Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and No. 3 is Davenport University in Grand Rapids. No. 4 is Wayne County Community College District in Detroit and No. 5 is CUNY Lehman College in the Bronx.
