Detroit Lions Interviewing 3 Internal Candidates for GM Position
The Detroit Lions have started to look for a new general manager by interviewing three internal candidates this week.
The team announced that vice president of player personnel Kyle O’Brien, director of player personnel Lance Newmark and director of pro scouting Rob Lohman have all interviewed for position. All three candidates were in Detroit while Bob Quinn served as general manager, and they’re each part of the team that is currently making personnel decisions in leu of a general manager.
“Great communication,” interim head coach Darrell Bevell said, who is also part of that decision-making cluster. “Great conversations. And I think everybody’s able to bring a little bit different thought to it and perspective. So first week, so far, so good.”
Principal owner Sheila Ford Hamp and team president Rod Wood are heading up the search for a new general manager and head coach for the team. Quinn and head coach Matt Patricia were let go following the Lions’ Thanksgiving loss.
While many believe an external hire will inevitably score the position, the team has started their search by giving its internal candidates the opportunity to express what they would bring to the team.
Here’s hoping for a Super Bowl win when things get sorts!
