Michigan Bracing for 7 Inches of Snow – When & Where
It’s officially spring, but it won’t feel like it on Friday (March 22). In Michigan, we really got lucky last winter. Temperatures were mild, even reaching 70 degrees in February, and we didn’t get much snow. So, consider this payback. One final day, Michigan is going to get pummeled with several inches of snow, and we’re talking about lower Michigan, so it’s not just an up north occurrence. Some areas of lower Michigan will get seven inches of show. Here’s where and when to expect Michigan bracing for the white stuff.
Michigan bracing for one final major snowstorm
Get ready for Friday, because that’s the day when all this snow will arrive. A snowstorm will work its way into lower Michigan starting in the morning and continuing through the afternoon. This snow, according to the National Weather Service, is expected to fall and accumulate quickly, too. So, where will most of the snow fall?
“Accumulating snow will occur in all areas on Friday with the heaviest snow occurring near and north of Interstate 96,” the NWS states. They add that four to seven inches of snow is expected in that area. “Near and south of Interstate 96 accumulations will drop off to around an inch near Interstate 94.” In other words, right now, it appears the heaviest snow will fall in Mid-Michigan, where areas could get between four to seven inches of heavy and wet snow. In Southeast Michigan, it should be closer to one to three inches. Areas such as Livingston, Oakland and Macomb counties should be closer to three inches, with Wayne and Washentaw down to as little as one inch. The timing of the show is between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., and it will be cold enough to stick. You might have to shovel this weekend. I’m not happy about that all. By Monday (March 25), temperatures should be back into the 50s, so if you can hold off, the snow should melt by then. I’m so not happy about this. Give me swimsuit season, already.
