10 Things We Love About Michigan in the Winter

Winter is upon us, and while some Michiganders hate the snow and ice, others embrace it. Let’s face it: There’s something to be said for the beauty of Michigan in the winter months, capped with glistening snow and radiant ice. I personally could live happily without winter, but many who live in Michigan love everything this state has to offer from November to March.

Snow: If you’re someone who loves snow, then boy, you’re in the right place. Michigan is full of the cold stuff in the winter. Snow can be beautiful and lends itself to plenty of fun winter activities.

Skiing, sledding and winter activities: As mentioned in the snow section of this post, if you love now, skiing and sledding, then Michigan is a great state to be in the winter. With so much of the white stuff, Michigan offers boundless opportunities to sled and ski all winter long.

Hot chocolate: Whether you like your hot chocolate with marshmallows or whipped cream (Marshmallows for me!), winter in Michigan is the perfect time to enjoy a nice, piping hot cup of hot cocoa. If that’s not your thing, coffee works, too!

Upper Peninsula fun: Plenty of people visit the Upper Peninsula during the warm months, but winter is also a great time to visit. You don’t have to fight the crowds, plus winter is extra beautiful Up North, thanks to all the fresh snow.
