Here’s How Much Jim Harbaugh is Getting in Bonuses This Season
Jim Harbaugh is one of the hottest college coaches on the circuit these days, and he’s going to get compensated for that outstanding record. Some big bonuses are coming his way, and he’s doing a great thing with the money, too.
Harbaugh and his top assistants are set to receive more than $2 million in bonuses following Michigan’s Big Ten championship win. So far, Harbaugh has received $1.575 million in bonuses. Harbaugh got $500,000 after the Wolverines won the Big Ten’s East Division, and then an addition $1 million after triumphing in the conference championship. Then, he earned an extra $75,000 for getting national coach of the year.
This comes after he signed a new five-year contract in January that resulted in a lower annual base pay. His base salary and compensation package is $4 million. Still not bad!
Harbaugh recently announced he would give all of his earned bonus money this year to the Michigan athletic department to pay employees who underwent salary cuts during the COVID-19 pandemic. I think that’s an incredible, heartfelt move.
If Michigan wins the Orange Bowl, Harbaugh will score another $500,000 bonus. If he wins the national championship, he’ll get another $1 million.
