New ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ Movie Will Film in Michigan
Michigan will be home to the filming of the new “Beverly Hills Cop” movie, and it all goes down next week.
Filming for “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley” will start in Detroit next week and run through Dec. 2, according to Fox 2 Detroit. So far, not too many details have dropped, but the film about the famed fictional detective, who is from the Motor City, will be played by comedian Eddie Murphy. He’s been starring in the role for nearly two decades.
Netflix is producing the movie. It will mark the fourth installment in the franchise and the first new film since 1994. Netflix sent a notice to residents and local businesses in impacted areas and actually warned of stunt driving, smoke effects and sparks. Oh, my.
Because of the filming, parking will be restricted around Washington Blvd. between State St. and Grand River Ave. during the shooting, plus by State St. between Washington Blvd to Griswold. No word yet on when the movie will be released.
