You Won’t Believe the Detroit Lions’ Pay Bonuses
Most people are familiar with the idea of a pay bonus, but looking at some of the NFL bonuses is a whole different level.
The NFL has a $336 million fund, which gives players from all 32 teams bonuses based on a number of factors.
For the Lions, the top bonus went to rookie safety Kerby Joseph, who snagged a $523,538 bonus. Yes, you read that right. Half a million bucks. That says a lot, since his salary is $705,000, so his bonus isn’t much less than his salary.
According to our friend Justin Rogers of the Detroit News, other Lions players who received big bonuses include tight end Brock Wright ($451,678), Jonah Jackson ($441,996), Isaiah Buggs ($434,816), Amon-Ra St. Brown ($421,923), Malcolm Rodriguez ($389,914), Alim McNeill ($366,610) and Jerry Jacobs, ($366,440). So, yes, you could legit buy a nice home with these bonuses. Football is a rigorous sport that’s hard on the body, so I honestly think these guys deserve every penny of their bonuses. Enjoy!
