Who Will Be the Detroit Pistons’ New Coach?
The Detroit Pistons’ season just ended, and Dwane Casey announced Sunday (April 9) that it was his last game as the head coach for the Detroit Pistons. He announced the news during a press conference after the game. Casey said that Pistons owner Tom Gores offered him a position in the Pistons’ front office, and he took it.
So, who will be the next Detroit Pistons head coach? Kory Woods from MLive.com discusses possibilities for the next Pistons head coach in a new article. Personally, when I look at his choices, my bet would be on Brian Keefe, the Brooklyn Nets’ assistant coach.
“Normally, when a professional sports team hires a new general manager, they will want to hire ‘their’ head coach; a person who shares their vision for the team,” Woods writes. “Keefe checks the boxes in this department, hence ESPN listing the Nets assistant as a potential candidate for the Pistons coaching vacancy.”
Woods ass that Keefe knows Troy Weaver, since “the two worked together during his two stints as an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder. In addition to the Thunder and Nets, Keefe served as a video coordinator under Greg Popovich with the San Antonio Spurs. And he has served as an assistant coach for the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers.” Read his full take here.
Sources: Pistons GM Troy Weaver is expected to talk a number of candidates for his open head coaching job, including two assistants he worked with in Oklahoma City: Chicago's Josh Longstaff and Brooklyn's Brian Keefe. https://t.co/Pn6ENzI19A
