Jim Harbaugh Responds to New NFL Rumors
Will he or won’t we? That’s the question we ask every year at this time. Will Jim Harbaugh leave the Michigan Wolverines to go coach in the NFL again? His last experience with the NFL was coaching the San Francisco 49ers, so it was a very high-profile stint. Now, he’s got a Rose Bowl under his belt, and rumors are once again swirling that Harbaugh is thinking about trying his hand at the pros again. Here’s how Jim Harbaugh is responding to new NFL rumors.
First, let’s look at the teams that are reportedly interested in Harbaugh. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Pete Thamel, Harbaugh has hired agent Don Yee to represent him when it comes to landing a NFL gig. He’s the same agent who represents Payton Manning and Tom Brady. Wow. Speculation is that Harbaugh might end up with the Chargers. He has a strong connection with that organization, and ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler has reported the Los Angeles Chargers have done some “preliminary work” looking into Harbaugh to replace Brandon Staley. The Carolina Panthers could look at Harbaugh, too. But, really, would he want to work for David Tepper? That guy scares me. I mean, he threw a drink at a Jags fan last weekend and got fined $300,000 by the NFL for it.
Back to Harbaugh’s comment. After the game, a reporter asked Harbaugh about the new NFL rumors and if the national title game might be his last at the University of Michigan. Harbaugh did what he usually does and was murky about it. “My future consists of a happy flight back to Ann Arbor, Michigan,” he said via Andy Staples. To me, that sounds like he’s saying, “I’m going pro if they’ll take me.” But, that’s just me. Right now, Harbaugh and the crew are looking ahead to Monday’s National Championship game against Washington. I’m a Spartan but rooting for them to win.
