Rest in Peace, Niki Lauda
Niki Lauda, has died at the age of 70.. He was one of the biggest names in motorsport, three-time Formula 1 world champion (1975, 1977 & 1984) and non-executive chairman of the world champion Mercedes team.
Lauda had received a double lung transplant last July after being diagnosed with a severe lung infection. And in November, he and the team posted a video message on Twitter saying he would be back at work “soon”.

But then in January, Lauda was diagnosed with pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital.
He died Monday night eight months following a lung transplant. The cause of death has not been revealed. \
His family released a statement: âWith deep sadness, we announce that our beloved Niki has peacefully passed away with his family on Monday…His unique achievements as an athlete and entrepreneur….his tireless zest for action, his straightforwardness and his courage remain. A role model and a benchmark for all of us, he was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather away from the public, and he will be missed.â
And of course, Formula 1 posted a tribute on social media.
