2024 Kia Seltos and Telluride Review
The Michigan winters are a great time to test drive ANY vehicle. With this in mind here’s our 2024 Kia Seltos and Telluride Review.
2024 Kia Seltos – 30K In The Snow
It’s hard to find any car around $30,000 these days – but when you go looking for a CUV that can handle all seasons the field narrows. So imagine our pleasant surprise when we spent a week with the 2024 Kia Seltos. Let me set the scene here in Detroit weather wise. We had snow, ice, rain and lows near zero. The perfect situation to test out a car in winter. How did it hold up? Very well.
- All wheel drive with torque vectoring kept the Seltos composed even on frozen roads that hadn’t been salted. There’s a fine line with the newer AWD systems in small cars – sometimes it doesn’t feel like it’s doing anything, and in some you lose all connection to the road (the system “clamps down” on the car…it’s hard to explain, but it’s there). That’s why I like the Kia tech – I never forgot that I was driving a small car but felt safe and connected.
- Comfort and design. The Seltos has a great look to it (refreshed for 2024) and you’ll quickly notice quality materials and form inside the vehicle. Sometimes people feel they need to give up a lot to own a small car around 30k…that’s not the case with the Seltos.
- Bottom line: 2024 Kia Seltos is a fine choice for an all-season CUV. If you’re considering a small, practical and well built vehicle…this should be one of the first you look at this year.
2024 Kia Telluride – The SUV To Remember
When I bring a car home to review I like to gauge the response of my wife – does she even notice it in the driveway? Does she look around at the materials in the car when she gets in for the first time? Maybe she starts visualizing herself in the car.
To be honest, this doesn’t happen too often. But when I bring home the Kia Telluride she not only notices it, but makes a point to tell me about how much she likes it. That’s high praise.
We spent a week with the 2024 Kia Telluride SX-Prestige X-Pro AWD – more snow and cold to drive it in and for 60k it’s easily one of the top three SUV’s on the market.
- 291 hp and 5,500 towing capacity (whatever you want to use it for, it’ll do it)
- AWD with 18″ wheels (all terrain tires made a huge difference)
- Impressive interior that features an easily accessible 3rd row and some of the most comfortable second row seating that I’ve seen.
Bottom line with the Kia Telluride. It’s one of my favorite platforms. Period. I talk a lot about SUV’s being like belly buttons…everyone’s got one and they’re not that different. But there’s something different about this – I’d buy it. Simply put. I’d buy it.
