Wife of Lions QB David Blough, Melissa Gonzalez, Gives Strong Performance at Tokyo Olympics
Melissa Gonzalez, the wife of Detroit Lions quarterback David Blough, has enjoyed a fantastic run at the Olympics.
After some fierce racing last week, Gonzalez – who is representing Colombia in Tokyo – qualified for the 400-meter hurdle semifinals. Her running time was 55.32 seconds, setting a Colombian national record.
At the semifinals, which took place Monday morning (Aug. 2), she finished sixth and, unfortunately, was eliminated from the final race. Even so, we’re so proud to have some of the Lions family representing in Tokyo.
The Detroit Lions offered moral support to Gonzalez throughout her journey in Tokyo.
“We just watched Melissa Gonzalez run there,” Lions coach Dan Campbell said in his Monday (Aug. 2) press conference before the Lions’ training camp practice.
He added, “I wish David could be out there for her, but she gave them hell, man. She gave them it all — she pushed it, man. I’m proud of her and I know he is and I wish he could be out there for her.”
I personally think it’s inspiring to see a couple who both excel in athletics. Maybe the Lions can draft her to the team? Just sayin’.
