A lot of people want to wear a blue ski mask to the Detroit Lions game today (Sept. 16). The whole thing began with Detroit Lions’ C.J. Gardner-Johnson. During warmups before the game against the Kansas City Chiefs, he wore a blue ski mask. Of course, the Lions won. And now everyone wants to wear a blue ski mask to the game today, because he’s encouraging it.
“After the game, I was like, ‘Bro, you need to do that every game. Just you, walk out of that tunnel. You go in the front, you have a ski mask on and we’ll just all be behind you.’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, I’m going to do that,'” Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions said on his podcast.
What to Know If You’re Wearing a Blue Ski Mask to the Detroit Lions Game
But, if you’re wearing a blue ski mask to the game today, the Lions have sent out an advisory. Here is the rule to follow: You will not be allowed to get into Ford Field wearing the mask, but once you’re in the stadium, you can wear it.
In other news, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has proclaimed Sept. 17, 2023, as Barry Sanders Day in Michigan. The day coincides with an unveiling of a new statue outside of Ford Field honoring the legacy of Barry Sanders. “Today, we honor Lions legend Barry Sanders with a new statue outside Ford Field,” Governor Whitmer said in a statement. “He played with Detroit hustle and humility, always getting the job done and supporting his team.”
The eight-foot bronze statue of Sanders marks the first player in franchise history to be immortalized outside of the arena. Whitmer added that Sanders showed the world “what it means to be a great athlete and a good person. As we enter another Lions season, let’s remember Barry Sanders, one of the greatest to ever do it, and keep on winning.”
