Grand Funk Railroad drummer Don Brewer on how they ended up covering Little Eva’s 1962 hit “The Loco-Motion” with Todd Rundgren producing. OC:…hour-and-a-half. :18.
“The whole reason ‘Loco-Motion’ came to be was Mark Farner went home to dinner, came back from dinner and walked in singing ‘Loc-Motion.’ [Sings: ‘Everybody’s…’] And it was like, ‘Let’s do that.’ And Rundgren’s, ‘Okay.’ And then Rundgren created this whole ‘let’s make it a party’ kind of thing – make it sound like a party. It was a hit — boom. I mean, we did that song in an hour and a half.”
