The Hook: Written during the making of Appetite for Destruction but not recorded until the sessions for Use Your Illusion.

Background: Although it ultimately appeared on Use Your Illusion Two, Guns n’ Roses guitarist Slash recalls that “You Could Be Mine” was actually written a lot earlier.

“’You Could Be Mine’ came up during the pre-production for Appetite for Destruction. Most of the song was together, but just not enough to go in and record it. There was two songs off Use Your Illusions, ‘Perfect Crime’ and ‘You Could Be Mine,’ that were both done during pre-production for Appetite.”
