“He was at a friend of his’ house and he was waiting to go to the airport, and the friend was, y’know, a little bit of a smart aleck and said, ‘Hey, you know we got 20 minutes before we have to leave, you’re such a hot songwriter, why don’t you just toss one off?’ Sort of as a challenge. He wrote that bang, just like that.”
