Michigan State football’s final game of the season will take place at a major venue: Ford Field in Detroit. The Michigan State Ford Field football game, now set for Black Friday, will close out the 2023 regular season against Penn State. The last time the played at Ford Field on September 11, 2010.

For those who want to watch at home, the game will air on NBC and stream on Peacock, on Friday, Nov. 24. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

“This is an exciting opportunity for our program to play in prime time on a holiday weekend,” MSU head football coach Mel Tucker said in a statement. “Our players will be able to compete in an NFL environment while being showcased in the national spotlight. I’m looking forward to our fans creating a loud atmosphere and giving us a home-field advantage at Ford Field.”

“This is a unique opportunity, for both our football program and our fan base, to play a Black Friday game at Ford Field,” MSU vice president and director of athletics Alan Haller said in a press release. “Southeast Michigan is home to 100,000 alums, nearly 50 percent of our student body and countless more Spartan fans. Our men’s basketball team has experienced tremendous support in Detroit, both at Ford Field and Little Caesars Arena, and we’re excited to bring Spartan Football to our fans in the Motor City. The city is important to our mission not only as an athletic department, but our entire University. We anticipate that the experience will be so much more than a football game for our Spartan faithful.”

According to the MSU, season ticket holders and student season pass holders will be able to get refunds for tickets and parking to the originally scheduled Penn State game at Spartan Stadium.     The NFL Draft for 2024 is set to take place April 25-27 in Downtown Detroit. The Draft will bring together some major faces in college and professional football, all gathering in the Motor City, with the event set for the area around Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza. Hundreds of thousands of fans from around the US are projected to come.

  • 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit: Extra fun

    According to officials, the NFL Draft Experience – the NFL’s interactive football theme park – will be available for all three days of the draft. Fans will be able to play games, view interactive exhibits, partake in autograph sessions and take pictures with the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

    “Detroiters have shown many times our ability to put on highly successful national events and we will be ready again to welcome the world next April,” Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan said in a statement. “Next year’s NFL Draft is going be an incredible opportunity for hundreds of thousands of visitors to see the progress our city is making.”

    “We are excited to be partnering with the city of Detroit and the NFL to bring the 2024 NFL Draft to Detroit,” Detroit Lions President & CEO Rod Wood added. “We look forward to showcasing the culture, energy, and passion of our vibrant downtown as a part of one of the NFL’s marquee annual events.”
